Water is a precious resource- often scarce, and always expensive. Energy use fits into the equation as well, as it constitutes about two thirds of the total cost of purifying and transporting water.
And what about labor and maintenance costs- the human portion? Usually that’s the most costly part of caring for landscaped areas. That’s a pretty good argument for a sustainable landscape, one that pretty much takes care of itself, isn’t it? It used to be all of these elements were readily available and at low cost. Not any more! Now we have to pay attention, and reduce the impact on our scarce and valuable resources.
Let’s create, and care for, landscape spaces that are far more practical, beautiful and sustainable!
